Taking Care of Business

Today's Learning Objective  Write arguments to support claims with clear reasons and relevant evidence.

Star Reading Test  Today you will take the Star Reading Test for the final time this school year. This is your last chance to prove to yourself how much you have grown as a reader. Considering how dedicated many of you have been to your reading, I'm excited to see how well you do. You may take the test here. Remember, after logging in to click on "Star Reading." Read carefully and try your best. Good luck!

Argumentative Writing Performance Assessment: Writing an Argumentative Essay Today you will continue writing your argumentative essay as part of the District mandated Writing Performance Assessment. Remember to make sure you clearly state a claim supporting pets in the classroom or not allowing pets in the classroom, and then support that claim with evidence from the texts you've read and watched.

You can access an argument essay checklist here, as well as a list of transition words here. You will write in the space provided on the document Pets in the Classroom. We will continue to work on this essay today and tomorrow if need be. Good luck!

100 Word Challenge (Optional Assignment) If you have finished the WPT (included the constructed response paragraphs and the argumentative essay), consider participating in this week's 100 Word Challenge. The prompt is below.

If interested, create a document within Google Drive, write your story, post to Kidblog, and submit to the 100 Word Challenge before the end of school tomorrow. Have fun!

Homework Read your A.R. book at home for at least 30 minutes and make a Digital Reading Log entry using the new 4th Quarter Reading Log, which has been placed in your Language Arts folder.
